  • Day 1: Introduction to Mandala Art and Basic Shapes

    Objective:

     

    • Understand the fundamentals of mandala art and basic shapes used in mandala design.

    Activities:

    • Introduction (Live Session): Overview of the workshop objectives and structure.

    • History and Significance: Brief introduction to the history and cultural significance of mandalas.

    • Basic Shapes: Introduction to basic geometric shapes used in mandala design (circle, triangle, square, etc.).

    • Symmetry and Patterns: Explanation of symmetry and patterns commonly found in mandalas.

    • Hands-On Exercise: Practice drawing basic shapes and creating simple mandala patterns.

    • Q&A Session: Address participants' questions and provide additional explanations.

    • Homework: Complete a mandala design using basic shapes learned during the session.

    Materials Needed:

    • Video conferencing platform for live session

    • Paper, pencil, ruler, compass, protractor

    • Examples of mandala patterns

     

    Day 2: Understanding Symmetry and Composition

    Objective:

    • Explore symmetry and composition techniques in mandala art.

    Activities:

    • Review (Live Session): Quick review of Day 1 concepts and homework.

    • Types of Symmetry: Introduction to different types of symmetry (radial, bilateral) used in mandalas.

    • Composition Techniques: Explanation of composition techniques such as focal points, balance, and flow.

    • Hands-On Exercise: Practice creating mandalas with radial and bilateral symmetry, focusing on composition.

    • Analysis and Feedback: Participants analyze their mandalas and provide feedback on composition.

    • Q&A Session: Address participants' questions and provide additional explanations.

    • Homework: Create a mandala design focusing on symmetry and composition.

    Day 3: Adding Detail and Complexity

    Objective:

    • Learn techniques for adding detail and complexity to mandala designs.

    Activities:

    • Review (Live Session): Quick review of Day 2 concepts and homework.

    • Layering and Overlapping: Introduction to layering and overlapping techniques to add depth to mandalas.

    • Intricate Patterns: Explore intricate patterns and motifs commonly used in mandala art (e.g., petals, spirals, dots).

    • Hands-On Exercise: Practice adding detail and complexity to mandala designs, experimenting with different patterns and motifs.

    • Analysis and Feedback: Participants share their designs and provide feedback on detail and complexity.

    • Q&A Session: Address participants' questions and provide additional explanations.

    • Homework: Create a mandala design incorporating intricate patterns and motifs.

    Day 4: Color Theory and Application

    Objective:

    • Understand color theory and learn how to apply colors effectively in mandala art.

    • Color Theory Basics: Introduction to color theory principles such as hue, saturation, value, and color schemes (e.g., complementary, analogous).

    • Color Application Techniques: Explore different techniques for applying colors to mandalas (e.g., gradient, shading, blending).

    • Hands-On Exercise: Practice applying colors to mandala designs, experimenting with different color schemes and techniques.

    • Analysis and Feedback: Participants share their colored mandalas and provide feedback on color choices and application.

    • Q&A Session: Address participants' questions and provide additional explanations.

    • Homework: Create a colored mandala design using techniques learned during the session.

    Day 5: Final Design and Presentation

    Objective:

    • Complete a final mandala design and present it to the group.

    Activities:

    • Warm-Up (Live Session): Light warm-up activity to prepare for the final presentation.

    • Final Design: Participants complete their final mandala design, incorporating all techniques and principles learned throughout the workshop.

    • Presentation: Participants present their final mandala designs to the group via video call, explaining their inspiration, techniques used, and challenges faced.

    • Feedback and Reflection: Group provides constructive feedback on each presentation, and participants reflect on their learning journey.

    • Certificates: Presentation of certificates of completion.

    By the end of the 5-day workshop, participants will:
